Stupid Stupid Stupid November 23, 2008 |

I did something dumb today. Well I put my couch on my previously paid off credit card (ie not used to paying the bill and therefore I don't have it set to pay automatically which meant I actually had to do something) Anyways I think to myself...

Self I say its funny I haven't gotten a bill yet. Then self says well maybe you did after all you do have that pile of mail sitting in your kitchen waiting to be sorted. There it was. Due 4days ago. I set it up and paid it online but it wont go through until its 6days late ensuring I'm sure a hefty fee.

Sigh. I suck. Oh well I paid $450 (my minimum is $20) so I'm just going to ignore that little late fee of my bill last month since I'm sure I paid enough to take care of it...that is assuming I even bother to open the bill next month.

In other happier news my dear friend Tiff is engaged. So a special congratulations to her. This guy has seemed like her perfect match from the get-go and I'm thrilled to see her so happy. Hey I'm getting better at this happy-for-people aren't I? Now I have a year to secure a wedding date that is willing to fly to South Carolina for the wedding.

Speaking of dates (my transitions are so smooth I should be on the pickup artist) I talked to JSP today and we had a very pleasant conversation and I am the proud owner of plans for a second date. Of course due to my amanda palmer/family/extravaganza vacation the timing is difficult. I'm going to see if I can flex my time at work and get out a wee bit early so we can get together on Friday night before I leave. I think its good to have the second date within a week of the first...keeps the ball rolling as it were. Hopefully this mount saint helen cold sore of mine will be gone by then.

Self Improvement is better left to Oprah November 01, 2008 |

I'm trying to be a better person. I am by nature a grudge holder...a bad one. I can stew for years over someone who stole my turn at shotgun or a person who smoked the last cigarette in my pack at a bar. However I guess after the Ed disaster I figured grudge holding isn't doing me any favors so I have delved into the realm of a combination denial and acceptance. Basically when something pisses me off I give myself a specific length of time to be pissed over something. The pout timer is set according to the level of unforgivable deception to which I was subjected to.

So here is the story we all know I am obsessed with my beloved Amanda Palmer and purchased my priceless tickets to see her in Chicago and Minneapolis. I bought train tickets for my voyage to the city and took the entire week off to visit with my family, then cobie for the concert then back to visit alice and go the second concert on friday.

Yeah well Cobie called bragging about wonderful Halloween in Chicago with good weather...which is slightly annoying enough in the first place considering I was drinking Riesling out of a pink cat-shaped bottle of wine by myself on a friday night. But I digress this is not the point of my story. He proceeds to tell me that hes going on vacation...the first week of December with Apple. I mention the concert which he conveniently forgot and then dug himself a deeper grave by saying he didn't book it just to get out of it...and then says he pretty much hated the CD (Yeah thats when the pissed metter hit 10). And he had to know it too because I was doing the thats okay with tone and didnt do my normal 3hour "feelings" monologue.

Yeah I didn't think he did it on purpose until that last moment but first lets talk about Apple. I have nothing against her in fact shes okay with me. But you know that girl in high school that was just so much better than you, and you kinda felt like the side kick friend meant to stand around just to make her look better? Yeah well that's Apple. And for some reason Apple with Cobie makes me into some 3yr old jealous kid. Did Cobie ask me to go on vacation...no. Even though I happened to have the entire week off anyway so I could of gone. Then there was that I wasn't trying to get out of it...who says that unless they were trying to get out of it? Perhaps I'm reading to much into it (that is a bad habit of mine)

This evenings incident has transformed into 15yr old crazy Ava well except I have wine, cigarettes and no parents breathing down my neck. Its a small improvement but I'll take what I can get at this point. I'm willing to let this go. I bitched to Alice who is now extra dedicated to attending the Minneapolis show so at least I'm not completely missing out. I've written my blog admitting to everyone I'm an immature jealous baby and now its time to get over it and weigh my options.

I know I will simply start to starve myself (so I'm skinny and adorable), go to med school, cure cancer then become a famous actress and be too busy with all my new super cool rich smart friends and then be too busy to ever hang out with my old friends again...oh well accept Alice I can name the cancer cure after her and I will tell everyone it was because she went to that Amanda Palmer concert with me. (This option although pleasing on paper seems perhaps mildly unrealistic)

Lets get back to reality I will sell the tickets on ebay or just give them to some crazy fan on myspace (that does seem like the more altruistic thing to do). I'm not willing to throw $135 down the toilet for train tickets so I will go home visit my family for a few days and spend the time they are at work studying for my boards. So its not exactly the fun I was hoping for but it does sound like the kind of vacation 15yr old looser Ava would have. I'm done now, time for a new bottle of wine.

Who's Going to Talk me Down Off this Ledge? July 26, 2008 |

Rory, Tiff, and some girl who's blog I read (dategirldiaries.com) are all headed down "happily ever lane" thanks to a small financial investment in match.com. I haven't wanted to date lately, for nearly a year. Of course I did end up in that ill fated relationship with Smiley which only reinforced my desire to avoid all things dating wise. However after a couple months of pure singletom I'm starting to reconsider.

I could potentially be moving as soon as next summer...however with my job, tuition reimbursement, bills, housing market and everything else outside of my control that rules such major life transitions it will be more likely to be the summer of 2010. So do I really want to sit here on my hands until I'm 29?

Lets look at some worst case scenarios?

  • No one messages me: my ego takes a hit and I loose some money giving it a try....eh I can cancel after a couple months if nothing happens.
  • I only have really crappy dates: well ladies and gentleman that is the blog content you've been waiting for isn't it?
  • I fall blissfully in love with some guy who is chained to Rochester. This one would suck, but I don't completely hate Rochester and its something that would have to play itself out.
  • I get my little heart broken: I really think I've toughened up on this one and my little heart is finally decently armored.
So I am presenting to you my very first poll...oh this is exciting think of it like a quiz but allot shorter. Anyways the poll will be open until Sunday at midnight (7-27-08). Vote so I feel loved.

Burtha isn't Feeling well June 26, 2008 |

My car has been acting funny. When I start my car the first couple of times I brake the abs kicks on. I like my abs breaks I do not like them kicking on on a sunny June day. Anyways I absolutely have to get them fixed because I'm going home for the 4th and my dad always finds a reason to drive my car just to make sure its not going to burst into flames.

So I made an appointment for tomorrow which means I have to drop off my car tonight. I asked my roomie if she would go with me to drop it off so she could give me a ride home. She agreed and said she would be home at 7pm. So I bummed around all evening waiting for her to arrive home, 7:00, 7:30, 8:15 RING....its her.

R: Ummmm, Hi will you be awake to drop off your car at 11?

A: Ummm....well probably not I have to catch my bus at 5:30am

R: Humm, oh well I'm in Winona right now (Insert long explanation involving a cousin and forgotten place cards for a wedding this weekend)...So it'll be awhile until I get there.

A: Oh, don't worry about it. I can get one of my friends to drive me, no big deal.

R: (whining) Are you....suuuuuurrrrrre? I'm reeaaalllly sorrrry.

A: Yeah no problem, I gotta go though, bye bye.

Sigh dammit not I have to convince someone to drive me over there. I'm not annoyed at roommate per say. If she would have just said no in the first place, or called me during the day and said something had come up...or at the very least call me sometime before 1hr after she was supposed to be home it would have been nice.

I could have just gone straight after work and had the shuttle take me home. This was not longer an option. On my third phone a friend I got lucky. So I'm annoyed shocker. I have this thing you can say no to me anytime you want but please please PLEASE don't say you'll do something and puss out!

Shoplifting t the Porn Store May 13, 2007 |

I had my friend Tiff in town for the weekend. Anyways she was in need of any upgrade for her personal vibrating device. Well for guidance where else would she go but into the arms of her friend….me.

Heck in college I used to live above a porn store I have frequented many and know the good ones and the creepy ones in the area. I have also spent a fair amount of money on aforementioned vibrating devices and have some knowledge about what's really good and what's not worth the money.

So we go to pure pleasures (the best in the Rochester area) do some browsing and she chose a very nice model of when I approved. Not wanting to be left out I bought one of those mini-vibes (a first for me) in purple by my favorite sex toy retailer doc Johnson. I would do a detailed review of the toy but well maybe in another post.

Back to the story we go to check out and they of course do the embarrassing batteries in the vibrator to make sure it works…that part does still make me blush. So with naughty goods in tow we head out the door.

I pass through with no problem then Tiff goes and BEEP BEEP BEEP. He calls her back desensitizes her bag and she passes through with no problem. I follow and BEEP BEEP BEEP. He desensitizes my bad now we pass through again BEEP BEEP BEEP.

Ok this is getting annoying I know I didn't steal anything…S shes really not the type. Well the store attending was none to happy about the situation either. He looks at me and says:

Clerk: Well I'm going to have to search you?

ME: Search me?!? You've got to be kidding.

Like I'm going to submit to a cavity search by a creepy middle aged porn store worker…No thank you call the cops and I will request a lady officer. I then went into some I'm sure irrational tirade about how I set off the alarm twice but passed through fine the first time….Yeah I must have sounded guilty

Tiff decided to diffuse the situation and walked up to the guy and opened her purse.

Search the purse of course that makes much more sense. Of course now I've committed to being psycho so I can't just walk up there and show him my purse so somehow I talk him into letting me go through again.

We pass with no beeping. Next time I will have to keep my cool more when being accused of shoplifting sex toys.

Biography

"Ava Mazur (alias) was born July 20th, 1981. She is the only child to two very normal middle class parents who were so wonderful she can’t even blame them for all of her problems. While her parents both worked Ava was lovely attended to by her overprotective, well intended however extremely paranoid paternal grandmother. She attended St.Peter’s Lutheran school in Schaumburg, IL from kindergarten until 8th grade where she achieved mediocre grades and participated in: girlscouts, basketball, cheerleading, equestrian and band. After graduating from St.Peter’s she attended James B. Conant Highschool in Hoffman Estates, IL. Where she got her first boyfriend, first job (a bather brusher & fill-in obedience instructor) at PetsMart. She also met her fabulous bff Cobie. She was published in the schools literary magazine in 1999 effectively beginning and ending her writing career. She continued her participation in equestrian and band. She later joined the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra and participated in several state solo competitions while player her flute. Due to High School bureaucrats she was forced to participate in marching band. But thankfully as a result of a snoozing belayer while rock climbing Ava was able to milk a sprained ankle for a year to get out of the senior year season. Furthermore she made a half assed attempt at joining drama (which she hated). High school taught Ava many valuable lessons such as: buying clothes is fun, if you bat your eyelashes you can talk a cop out of giving you a ticket, mothers love buying dresses for special events, driving is awesome even if you have to walk 5 times as far from your parking spot than if you would have taken the bus and sex is fun. Ava’s slightly above mediocre grades were enough to earn a scholarship to Winona State University in Winona, MN. She graduated with a 2.99 (how much does that suck) and a B.S. in Allied Health. In college Ava enjoyed no organized actives, drank with her friends Alice and Rory, slept in, watched mtv, swore off meat, exercised and enjoyed enough camel lights to take years off her life. After Graduation she got a job at Mayo Clinic and bought a beautiful deep purple velvet couch, a car with heated seats and heads-up display as well as a house. She spent tons of her parents money on a wedding that never happened. And applied the remainder of her wedding fund (a gift from her parents) to install Brazilian tiger wood floors in the upstairs of her home. Today Ava is a (distance) student at North Dakota Stat University for a B.S. in Laboratory Science. She lives in Rochester, MN with her beloved bulldogs Belmont and Rosa. She enjoys bad reality TV, finding new music on Pandora, riding her bike and writing amusing stories on her blog. "
